More Showering
Joe and I headed up to San Jose the weekend of October 20th for Baby Shower #2. My sister, Sister-In-Law, and one of my best friends hosted a beautiful day of food, fun games, finger foods (including lemon bars for dessert - a fave! and brie cheese that I could eat because it was pasteurized), sparkling drinks and toile!
For those of you that don’t know what toile is, here is a link to the wiki with an explanation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toile I love toile (even if my husband doesn’t allow it in the house) so it was extra special to have this as the theme of the shower. Even the favors were toile themed with little toile boxes filled with truffles (also something I love). There are pictures on flickr if you’d like to see pics of each shower.
What a gift to have people in my life that know me so well! Shana and Lee also gave me a shower in September that was garden themed with beautiful flowers, cheerful colors (like the baby’s room), handmade table cloths by my Step-Mom-in-Law, fun rubber duckies floating in the punch, and hand-drawn decorations by my sister-in-law. Instead of a cake, they opted for the cutest mini cupcakes on tiered cake plates. Oh so cute!
This past weekend was my third and final shower…one at my boss’s house. She is British/Irish in heritage and threw me a traditional tea! The food was amazing with a berry trifle and traditional scones with jam and clotted cream. It brought me right back to London!
All of these showers had one thing in common. They were elegant but not stuffy! I loved each and every one of them and we are so grateful to have been showered with all of the things new parents need in preparation for a little one. Now…I have to finish all of the thank you notes! Two showers in two weekends…I’m behind!

The Wiki doesn’t give any pictures of toile! I’m disappointed in the knowledge community.
Are these toile napkins?

Yes…all of the baby clothes hanging as decorations above the food table and the napkins on the table are all a toile fabric.

Sat Nov 3, 2007 at 7:02 amWhat a gorgeous theme! I love all the little clothes - I guess Joe better get used to them for a while! I’m glad you had so many showers - it just shows you how loved you and Joe are and how loved the new baby will be.
Mon Nov 5, 2007 at 2:47 pmI attended every shower. They were fantastic showers and all very different from each other. You are both very loved. It was wonderful to have so many people come to help you get ready for your baby. It was great to hear you both say on Sunday that now you are ready to have the baby because you got mostly everything you need. Ohhhh! We can’t wait to see this new grand baby. Hugs, Mom & Dad
