Another Update
Sorry that I haven’t been as good about updating my blog and keeping you all in the loop about what’s been going on with us. I’ve been consumed with baby and work, but there’s no excuse!
We’re at the 6.5 month mark with our little girl’s development. I spent the first half of the pregnancy wanting her to swim up and stop using my bladder as a chair. Now I’m using the last half begging her to swim down. It feels like she’s trying to crawl up into my rib cage which makes it difficult to catch my breath. What can I say, she’s already stubborn like her mom. The doctor appointments are being scheduled every other week now and they’ve begun measuring my belly. We’re right on target. The results of the Gestational Diabetes test came back negative, which is a blessing. However, I am slightly anemic. Joe took me to Target last night to get some iron supplements and I’ve been attempting to up the amount of iron rich foods in my diet. I just wish that green leafy veggies (the kind I used to love) didn’t turn my stomach at the thought of eating them now!
This weekend we’re headed up to my home town for our second baby shower. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone and celebrating this with all of them. There will be a few people there that I haven’t seen in so long. My sister, sis-in-law, and close friend Kim have been working so hard on this event. They’ve been good at keeping me in the dark about the details so it will be fun to see the day unfold. All three of them are great about adding those little things that make a day like that personal and special. We’ll be staying at the Hayes Mansion while there, which is fun. It’s one of those things that you’d never do when you lived there but now that we are visiting, we’ll have the chance. Joe’s mom and Aunt are able to make the trek to be there too!
Next weekend will be my third and final shower. My boss is throwing me a tea party shower with all of the girls from work (most of them anyway) attending. She invited my mom too, who has a ticket to fly down for the weekend. What a neat idea and so much fun to have a proper British tea. She is half Irish and half British so we know we’ll be experiencing the real deal.
Other than that, we’re trying to prepare the house and nursery for the baby. My sister and brother-in-law brought us their crib which is up now in the baby’s room. I put the mobile on it over the weekend. As soon as we get the room done, I’ll take some pictures for you all to see…or better yet, come visit once she’s born to see her and the room.
Well, wild horses won’t be enough to keep us away. It will be hard to be patient for the next 2 1/2 months. Looking forward to seeing you this weekend. Dad
Thu Oct 18, 2007 at 9:42 pmI hope you have a great time! I can’t wait to hear about it!
Sun Oct 21, 2007 at 9:08 amWhat if the horses are wild AND wearing plaid sweaters made by starving children in Nepal?
So how was the shower?
Mon Oct 22, 2007 at 10:25 amI am so excited for you reading your blog… I was wondering if you could tell me what the colors and theme is going to be for your baby’s room?
Mon Oct 29, 2007 at 12:51 amSure, Woody! We’re keeping things fairly gender neutral, just in case.
The colors of the baby’s room are Red, Golden Yellow (walls painted this color), Blue, and Green. Here is a link to the bedding set so you can see what I mean: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2415206
I’ll post pictures as soon as it’s done. We’re waiting on a few pieces of furniture and then we’ll be able to put things away. The room is starting to take shape though. It’s turning out to be quite a cheerful place for our little one.
