Painters Come and Gone

This week we had painters at our house to paint the exterior. When you buy an older home, a termite inspection is required by the bank before they will fund your loan. The Seller must pay for the inspection and any subsequent repairs/treatment. In our case, the house needed to be tented but there were also pieces of wood that needed to be replaced. As a result, there were a few pieces of bare wood on the house…and the city of Cerritos doesn’t like that. In fact, we’ve found them to be quite picky about a lot of things. I guess that accounts for property value in the area.

In any event, we took this opportunity to change things up a bit and add a splash of color. Not to worry, I went down to the city and got approval on the colors. We had the necessary permit before the work started. The colors we chose were Bison Beige (a sort of taupe), Swiss Coffee (a white that isn’t so bright it’ll blind you), and Burnt Crimson (a dark, brownish red) which we used as an accent on the gates, front door, and the shingles on the side of the garage. This picture doesn’t even do the colors justice but have a look anyway.

The painters were very good and a great price but they weren’t very careful with all of the plants I had recently put in the planters in the front. My mom had warned me but I had already bought the plants and wanted to get them into ground. Guess we’ll have to see what lives and replant what doesn’t. Lowes near us has a nice nursery section…and there’s always Armstrong Nursery right down Artesia!
