Not just another pretty sofa…

Finally!, originally uploaded by spackletoe.

So, Joe and I had an interesting weekend. I say interesting because it had it’s ups and downs…and it was productive.

We bought a new couch, hence the picture of the sofa in this post as well as it’s title. Joe and I have long drooled over everything at Room & Board. As of this weekend, we are proud owners of this beauty from there. We got it for a steal of a price at their annual sale and are excited for it’s delivery at the end of the month. Anybody interested in purchasing a stylish, green 2-piece sofa/chaise lounge with sofa bed? If so, I hear there’s one for sale on Craigslist…at least there will be once I’m done with the ad.

So…the big question. Why are we buying a new couch when we have a perfectly good one that we purchased only 2-years ago? Well…here’s the skinny…

Joe and I are attempting to purchase the house that he grew up in and we found out this weekend that our couch won’t fit! That’s right, we’re moving to LA county. As Pat would say, “562 baby!”

Joe’s mom is retiring and moving up to where his sister lives in WA state. We’re planning to buy her house and move there this Spring. All of this is pending sale of our townhome and approval from the bank. Needless to say, it’s going to be a stretch. Top Ramen never looked so good!

We have a lot of plans for improvements and decorating. More on that as we figure everything out. It’s going to be a bit strange owning that house but we’re super excited about it. I’m sure many of you have fond memories…from lip sync videos to computer gaming. I know I’ll never be the same after seeing some of those videos!

We hope that if this comes to fruition and this house becomes ours, that you’ll feel as welcome and comfortable as you did back in high school and college. For those who have never been there…here’s your chance! You know our door is always open.

PS: Not to worry…we’re hiring movers this time!
