My Grandfather’s Irises
Say a little prayer for the irises growing my my garden.
While we were up in Grass Valley visiting my parents a few weeks ago, my dad dug up a few bulbs that came from my grandfather’s garden. My parents took some from his garden and planted them in every home they’ve lived in and now I’m attempting to as well. Supposedly they multiply and you need to dig them up every few years to break them apart so they continue to bloom.
Unfortunately, I’d forgotten about the bulbs until this morning. I was doing a crossword puzzle in bed and one of the answers was gardener. A light bulb went off in my head and I went screaming down the stairs to see if they were still alive. I think that the cats and Joe think I’m crazy…they’re probably right. I put the bulbs in water and kind of sliced into one to see if it was dry…thankfully it seemed ok.
Anyway, Joe and I rushed out to Home Depot and got a planter and some soil to get them planted right away. I hope that they live and continue to thrive.
Here are some pictures of the irises planted in the garden. I cleaned up the patio and pruned a few things as well as planted the magnolia plant I recently purchased at Costco.

I sure hope they grow!! They look good.
