Pictures, Pictures, Pictures!
Thought you’d like to see some photographs from my past weekend in San Jose. I had a blast! If you click on the image you’ll be brought to that set of pictures on my flickr.com page. There you’ll be able to look at the images in a slide show format or you can click on individual pictures and then all pictures sizes to download the original photo. This is just one of the many reasons we love flickr!
The first set of pictures is from the bachelorette party/girls’ night out at Santana Row in San Jose. We stayed at the Hotel Valencia and ate dinner at Maggianos. Well, they ate at Maggianos…my flight was an hour and half late due to thunderstorms in Texas. They said that’s where my plane was when it was supposed to be in Orange County picking me up! So I joined everyone for dessert and we continued on to a bar at the hotel. Despite my tardiness, we had a great time just hanging out and being silly. It was great to hang out with Kim, meet her cousins and see Michele again…you may remember her from the Cars that Go Boom lip sync!
Next we come to Saturday at my sister’s house. Elaine drove me around running my errands with me for the bridal shower stuff I needed. We had a great time…quality one-on-one time with your sister is always great! When Erin woke up from her nap we played outside with her for awhile while Ed made us coconut encrusted sole for dinner with a sweet coconut rice, asparagus, and salad. Yummy! With that we enjoyed a nice light Riesling by Fess Parker. For a Riesling it isn’t too sweet and paired well with the coconut and fish. Then it was bath time for Erin and Elaine and I hung out while Ed and Erin headed to bed.
On Sunday morning I joined my mom, brother, sister-in-law, and nieces at my brother’s house for breakfast. They made yummy banana waffles with bacon. I got to hold Lucie for the first time and spend some time playing with Corinne…although she had to warm up to me at the beginning. After we cleaned up my mom and Leslie helped me skewer pea pods around shrimp for the appetizer I was bringing to the shower. We had a great time sitting around the dinette table talking and working. Thank goodness for all of their help!
Lastly,my mom and I attended a bridal shower for Kim at her aunt’s house. When you have a close friend like Kim, it is so special to be involved in their wedding. I’ve loved this time together and know that she and Jason will have a wonderful life together. You can see how much they love each other. These two have been so thoughtful in planning their wedding and take great care to make things fun and easy on everyone attending and involved.
We played a few games at the shower. One was guess the celebrity couple that you are…we placed pictures of the couple on everyone’s back and you could ask everyone yes or no questions in order to figure out who was on your back. The biggest hit of the party was the coconut bra game. If you were caught saying either the groom’s or the bride’s names you had to wear the coconut bra. As you can see by the pictures, this was harder than you think! We had such a fun time and everyone was a great sport. Kim has such a wonderful family…they were so warm and inviting. My mom and I felt so welcomed and had so much fun getting to know all of them. This will be a fun wedding to attend!
So that’s it for my weekend in San Jose. Enjoy the snapshots. Don’t you wish you had a coconut bra too? I think they’re making a come-back!

Monique is the next martha stewart, the updated version of course. Monique, thanks for capturing the fun festivities of the weekend. I am so lucky to have you in my life and not just because of the delicious food and beverages you create, I love you and appreciate all that you do for everyone. I love the picture of your mom in the shells-”forever young.”
Mon Jun 13, 2005 at 7:58 amIt’s hard to know where to begin with this posting! You just had a fabulous time and the pictures are gorgeous! First – Kim’s shower and bachelorette party look like a blast. The flowers she was wearing are so gorgeous and so is she – she will make a perfect bride! Little Lucie looks like she smiles in her pictures. And – well – what can you say about your mom! She always looks like the life of the party. I’m glad you had fun and thanks for sharing the photos!!
Tue Jun 14, 2005 at 11:26 amYeah…like I always say, Kim could be wearing a potato sac and still look polished and lovely.
Isn’t if funny how Lucie seems to smile? She’s only a few weeks old! I didn’t even realize she was in the room when I first got there…she was so quiet. Not even a sound when I picked her up. So sweet.
I’m so lucky to have such fun parents.
I was so glad that my mom was able to come. We had a fun time trying to find the airport from the shower too…the blind leading the blind. It was funny!
