Angel Baby Heaven
That’s not really what they say but that’s the way I used to sing it. I’m of course talking about the Erasure song Heavenly Action. The lyric is really, “Angel made in heaven…” and they didn’t sing this particular song at the concert I went to last night. They played just about everything else a fan could have wanted though!

I was set to go with a friend who ended up having to work; so Joe bought the ticket and accompanied me to the Grove here in Anaheim. The sound there is terrific and Erasure was amazing. I’ve long heard about the costumes and the almost burlesque quality of their shows. Last night’s show, my first, didn’t disappoint. In true ‘diva’ fashion, Andy Bell transitioned into different costumes. Some with feathered wings and one with little more than two large feathered fans (don’t worry, he was wearing sequined briefs under the feathers).

I have been a long time fan but never got the chance to see them in concert until last night. It really was a dream come true. I sang just about every song they played and danced my little heart out. Here is a comprehensive list of their albums. Thank you to my sister and her best friend for introducing me to Erasure back in 1986. If you haven’t given them a chance, I highly recommend Erasure to you. They’re electronic, poppy, hooky…you’re missing out if you don’t own some of their music. What can I say…their songs make me happy.

Did you check with Joe first before you blabbed to the whole internet that he went to an Erasure concert? Dang! J/K. I’ve got some of their CDs, so I ain’t got no reason to diss.
Cool pictures, btw.

Fri May 20, 2005 at 8:13 amI’ll let Joe tell you about his experience…I will say that he went for me and not because he was totally into it. He even gave up going to a midnight showing of Star Wars III with a friend to go with me because he knew how important the concert was to me. I do love that man!
Out of all of the electronic music that I enjoy, I think he’d say that Erasure is at the top of his list simply because they are synth-POP. You know how sometimes you listen to songs from the 80’s and you think…”I like that song because of nostalgia but I admit it’s not all that great?” Well Erasure songs are so solid they sound just as good in 2005. I still love them and seeing Andy Bell sing these songs in concert has brought a whole new dimension to them for me.
Fri May 20, 2005 at 11:07 amWow - that was so sweet of Joe!! He deserves some extra bacon. And by bacon - I do mean bacon. Unless of course it has another meaning and that would work too! ha-ha!
Fri May 20, 2005 at 12:17 pmYeah, I could have done without seeing a cover of Salisbury Hill sung by a guy wearing only a blue sequin speedo and pink feathers. But the rest of the thing was really good. I think the presentation more than made up for the fact that most of the stuff is pre-recorded. I’m glad I went.
