Astrological Musings
It’s not that I’m a believer in Astrology, but I find it empowering when my horoscope mirrors what is going on in my life. Much the way I feel when I open up a fortune cookie or listen to a priest’s homily and it seems that he has written it just for me. I often know what I need to do, deep inside, but sometimes I need a kick in the pants.

Anyway, here’s my horoscope from MyYahoo! for today. (I’m an Aquarius).
Taken from Yahoo! Astrology:
Turn off the TV and put down the newspaper, dear Aquarius. Look around you. Realize that real life is infinitely more interesting than the daytime programming on your local broadcast channel. If you don’t find that you are being amused by the life you lead, don’t escape into someone else’s world. Create your own excitement. No one is going to hand you your lines. You have to write the script yourself. But that should not be a problem with your imagination.

What happened to your great collaige?
Mon Mar 11, 2002 at 2:55 pmSince TV is recognized as inferior to real life, why not reject horoscopes along with it? Augustine has an interesting parallel from the Confessions:
“There was at that time a wise man, very skillful and quite famous in medicine. . . . He recognized from my own talk that I was given to books of the horoscope-casters, but he, in a kind and fatherly way, advised me to throw them away and not to spend idly on these vanities care and labor that might otherwise go into useful things.” Bk. 4, Ch. 3
