We’ve recently discovered that our daughter’s bottom two teeth have broken through. More to come, I’m sure. So far the teething hasn’t been too bad. A friend of ours gave us some “homeopathic” teething pills as a gift and I must say, they’re amazing. There are no side effects and she’s able to eat without pain after taking them. What a wonderful invention!

Our little one is very successful with sitting up on her own now. She’s in the 80th percentile for weight and in the 90th for height. Her legs are so strong and she keeps us laughing with her funny sense of humor. She loves to be lifted high in the air and can’t get enough water. So far, she’s eaten some banana, cheerios, and tofu…although she is just starting to eat this “adult” food.

There’s always constant worry on my part. I wonder if I’m feeding her enough…or too much. Does she get enough stimulation? Am I reading to her often enough? At the same time, I’m really enjoying her. I just try to read as much as I can on each stage of her development and you know…do the best I can. She’s amazing and has enriched my life beyond words. She’s such a joy!

First Trip to the Beach!

On Saturday, Joe and I took B down to Crystal Cove for a little dip in the ocean. It turned out to be quite a gloomy day down there so we only stayed for a little bit. We were suited up so we had to at least get out of the car and take some pictures!

She didn’t care for the cold water all that much and started to cry a bit when I set her down. She did enjoy looking at the sand and waves along with all of the people there on the beach. For now though, she just got her feet wet…

Walkin on the SandChillin' at Crystal Cove Getting Her Feet Wet A little overcast, but still having fun!

Disneyland for the First Time!

Monday, June 2, 2008 at 10:58 am | Filed under: Family

I think it’s safe to say that our little one had a good time during her first trip to Disneyland. We met up with friends, Tim & Shana, to spend a few hours at the park. We had every intention of heading over to Disney’s California Adventure but never made it that far. Actually, it took us awhile to get past Main Street. B was tired and hungry…not a good combination. So the boys walked around together as the girls camped out on a park bench near the corn dog cart and the Baby Center. Shana and I talked as Miss B put her head down, in my arms, to take a power nap. When she woke up she drank her bottle and we headed out to find the boys.

Of course, we were stuck by the parade so we made the most of it and grabbed her out of the stroller so she could see. Shana took this picture of us (Pssst…check out my Mother’s Day locket!). It was hard to get since Miss B kept turning around to look at all of the activity. Who can blame her? She saw Alice, The Mad Hatter, the Queen’s Cards, The Lion King crew, the Princesses and Mickey and Minnie. We were dancing to the music and I started to get all emotional thinking about how she’ll grow up loving this place and it’s characters. Thanks to her Daddy, she’ll have the opportunity to go more often than most kids. She’s a lucky little girl.

We finally met up with the boys after the parade had passed. Joe wanted pictures of B in front of the Castle, of course. Shana and Tim had purchased B’s first Mickey Ears and had her name embroidered on the back, of course! What a special gift from them. She’ll cherish them. We also went on a few “dark” rides. She enjoyed Alice and Pinocchio. I’d give anything to know what she was thinking. No tears and no laughter…she just sort of stared and absorbed all of the colorful images and sounds. We’ll post the pictures to flickr soon.

Sorry we haven’t posted lately. Things have been so busy with me looking for a job and Joe working hard at Disneyland and his side business. We’ll continue to post when we can and get those pictures up soon. Hope you’re all doing well. As always, continue to call and write. We’ll get back to you when we can. Big hugs from the three of us!

She Speaks!

The three of us went to visit Joe’s family in WA and to a party in Portland for our friend Tim’s birthday. What a wonderful trip we had…5 days in the Pacific Northwest. Yes, it rained…every day in fact.

Our little girl went on her first airplane ride. She must be a world traveler at heart. Her entire ride was spent sleeping in my arms. Not a bad flight for me either. *wink*

While we were there, our little one decided to speak…and at great lengths! OK, so she wasn’t sighting poetry or anything but she did cycle through her vowel sounds. This is the age when they find their voice and it’s common for them to coo their vowels…still…we think she’s a genius. Can’t help it…she’s amazing to us in every way.

What a wonderful gift and music to my ears. Above is a pic of her during the precious moment.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Tonight I took advantage of daycare and made the St. Patrick’s Day fare I’m known for…corned beef, cabbage, red potatoes, carrots and don’t forget the Irish soda bread with honey butter. It takes awhile to make this but Joe and I enjoyed it. It’s worth the work. I wonder if Joe thinks it’s worth the dishes…his chore. I’ll say this…I did rinse as I went. Still are quite a few dishes and my big, red Le Creuset needs to be washed by hand. Maybe I’ll help him out tomorrow.

These are pictures of our little girl in her first St. Patrick’s Day outfit. She’s a little young to enjoy the holiday but I think she’ll learn to love it. I played irish music and we danced around for a bit while the food was cooking. I think she looks particularly good in green.

Smiles and Coos

Friday, March 7, 2008 at 10:12 am | Filed under: Family, Photography

The baby is really smiling and cooing now. Mostly in response to other things. When you laugh and smile, she does too. We have so much fun each day playing. It’s great that we can distract her now when we’re changing her diaper, etc. She also loves the mobile that Shana and Tim bought her. She looks at it and just smiles. When the mobile is singing and moving she kicks her legs and moves her arms and just grins from ear to ear.

I thought it would be nice to get an updated picture of her (especially now that the binky rash is going away). She has started daycare…easing into it (more for my sake I think) by going a few days this week. They post pictures of the kids in the room with their names under them and I didn’t have anything nice for her spot.

Since she had her cute “I Love Giggles” outfit on from Joe’s sister and family, I thought it was a good time to shoot a few pics of her. Joe calls these her little photo shoots. I was trying to get a nice smiling one like this first one. I think this will be the one for her classroom.

She was in such a good mood! I just kept snapping. When I looked at the images on the computer, I noticed this one and burst out laughing. Oh the irony! I just had to share.

Drop and Give Me 20!

Nah, she’s not doing push-ups…she’s just been doing great with her “tummy time”! Pretty soon she’ll be off to college!

Right now she’s sleeping but I don’t think that will last long. Feeding time is fast approaching. Hope you’re all doing well. This time with her is just flying by and I can’t believe that I’ll be heading back to work in about a month. A sad day indeed.
